Homemade Pizza Dough

We experimented with a LOT of recipes in 2020, but our homemade pizza dough was probably our favorite and most used recipe!

Whether it’s date night, family dinner night, or a solo red wine and pizza night, this recipe will NOT disappoint!

You will need to make this recipe ~21-24 hours before you are planning to cook it. For example, if you are planning to cook at 6 pm, you would need to prep the dough ~6-9 pm the night before. We ALSO recommend using a pizza stone if you have one, but it will also work just fine on a sheet pan.

INGREDIENTS:

Makes 2 x medium, thin crust pizzas: 🍕🍕

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 330 mL luke warm water

Makes 3 x medium, thin crust pizzas: 🍕🍕🍕

  • 4.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp yeast
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 450 mL luke warm water

Other Ingredients:

  • Cornmeal

INSTRUCTIONS:

Night Before:

  1. Mix dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Slowly add in water, and mix until it looks like this photo (do not over mix) –>
  3. Cover the bowl in plastic wrap and keep at room temperature for 22 hours ⏰

Night of Cooking:

  1. Preheat oven to 525 F. If you are using a pizza stone, put it in the oven while it’s preheating so it gets super hot.
  2. Once the dough has finished rising, knead on a floured surface and separate into 2 or 3 dough balls.
  3. Flatten each dough ball with a floured rolling pin. Try to make it as thin as you can without making holes.
  4. Sprinkle cornmeal onto your baking sheet, OR your pizza paddle if you are using a pizza stone (this is VERY important so it doesn’t stick!). Carefully transfer your flattened dough onto the baking sheet/paddle.
  5. Spread your tomato paste and favorite toppings onto the pizza.
  6. Cook in the oven for ~7-12 minutes (watch it carefully – cook time will depend on if you are using a baking sheet or pizza stone). The pizza will be ready when the edges of the dough look golden brown. Enjoy! 🍕

What toppings are you going to put on your pizza?! 🍅🧀

TIP: Once the dough has risen and you separate into pizza dough balls, you can wrap any extra dough in plastic wrap and put in the freezer for another day (let defrost & re-rise for at least 6 hours).
